Kurt Vonnegut, VT Shootings

“When a Tralfamadorian sees a corpse, all he thinks is that the dead person is in a bad condition in that particular moment, but that same person is just fine in plenty of other moments. Now, when I myself hear that somebody is dead, I simply shrug and say what the Tralfamadorians say about dead people, which is ‘So it goes.’”

– from Vonnegut’s ‘Slaughterhouse-Five,’ 1969

Life and Accomplishment

Posted in Music, Happiness, Thoughts at 8:30 pm by Administrator

Everything in life is the same.

If you want to plant a garden, and you don’t know how, you figure it out on your own or find someone who does.  Then you prepare the ground, plant the seeds and let them grow, while nourishing them appropriately and removing pests when necessary.

If you want to be happy, and you don’t know how, you either figure it out or find someone else who has done it.  Then you prepare your life, plant the seeds you were taught and let them grow…etc.

If you want to learn music and you don’t know anything about it, you figure it out or find someone who can teach you.  Then you set aside time to become familiar with the principles, and let them grow through practice.

If you want to find peace the same applies.

Worry and the Mind

Posted in Spirituality, Quotes at 1:31 pm by Administrator

“The mind cannot kill itself. So, your business is to find the real nature of the mind. Then you will know that there is no mind. When the Self is sought, the mind is nowhere. Abiding in the Self, one need not worry about the mind.”
– Sri Ramana Maharshi

Becoming what you want to be.

Here is a nice quote I heard today…

“There is nothing wrong with you that changing yourself completely couldn’t fix.”
