The Temple of Life

Posted in Thoughts, Healing at 2:07 pm by Administrator

Yesterday it occurred to me as a realization, as opposed to a mental idea, that our bodies are a direct reflection of what is occuring in our lives.  I knew this before, but it never dawned on me with such clarity as it did yesterday.

I began to catch a cold.  Normally I would eat a bunch of raw garlic, drink a tablespoon full of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water every couple of ours and then take a really hot bath, wrap up in blankets and sweat it out over night.  That would take care of it just about anytime I felt a cold start to come on.

Yesterday I decided to use the Yuen Method and EFT to knock it out.  According to the Yuen Method colds are simply the result of unresolved grief and sadness.  Here is the trick…it doesn’t always have to be your own!  When people suffer, sometimes they feel better when others join them.  In my case, this cold was the result of “not suffering as much as others”, particularly not suffering as much as family members.  I was psychically weak to their troubles. Stronger Every Day

Posted in Spirituality, Thoughts, Quotes at 3:54 pm by Administrator

One of the things I particularly liked about EFT and the Yuen Method was that everyday was an opportunity to become clearer and stronger.

Imagine all the crap in your life is just an accumulation of garbage not dealt with in the past.  So when a trouble arises in your consciousness you can simply apply these methods to clear it and be free of one more burden!  In a while, you are a lot lighter than you ever remembered and also a lot stronger both physically and mentally.

I’m not sure how I missed it earlier, but I also see how the Kriya Yoga meditation I’ve been practicing for the last 6 years has the same effect.  Through observation of the disturbances that arise in the field of one’s consciosness, they are dissolved.

So I now say, “Let your self become stronger every day!”

I got a fortune cookie from the Asian Garden (an excellent restaurant by the way) in Morgantown that read, “I’m not afraid of storms, because I’m learning to sail my ship.”  Now that’s not much of a fortune, but I see its applicability to life. Dr. Yuen has said to be fearless.  Yogananda and Roy Eugene Davis and countless others have said the same thing.  When fearless, I feel free.  It is fear that causes much difficulty.  What is there without fear?

Maybe you could try some kettlebells if you are afraid?  I just got a 35 pounder for Christmas from my parents.  That is an upgrade from my 26 pounder.  I’m looking forward to using it.  Those iron balls with handles really do wonders from what I’ve seen.  Here is a link to a chiropractor friends new blog.  http://profile.xanga.com/docenergyPJ

He will be sharing his kettlebell routines and experiences as well as some odd thoughts he has in his head. (Disclaimer: His thoughts do not necessarily reflect my own. Although we are friends, we are both individuals and often times see things differently. However, that usually is more fun than not.  That said, read his blog at your own discretion.)

Winter Solistice 2007

Posted in Uncategorized at 3:20 pm by Administrator

The darkest day is here.  Yet the light can only return now.

I found a new appreciation for the Christmas season this year. Seeing all the lights on houses and all the gatherings we’ve had where candles served as the lumination, I feel reconnected to old ways where celebrations of light were heart felt.

Tonight our band plays at The Country Inn.  Many old and new friends have come from long distances to see us. Musically I feel ready to let go of my old self and move forward into a new chapter of creation.

In Vedic Astrology the time around the age of 28 is the Saturn Return.  Here old karma is resolved and future possibilities unlocked.  I can feel that now. Much of my past has been made peaceful and future possibilities are so much brighter now.

Holding on doesn’t serve me anymore.  I’m not really sure who it serves, but it definitely doesn’t serve me anymore.

So…as the new moon moves back to full and the season of Winter brings back the light of the sun…I’m ready to go.

PS- Here are some great quotes I found today as I was grading assignments of the students in my stress management class:

“Every stress leaves an indelible scar, and the organism pays for its survival after a stressful situation by becoming a little older.”                                    — Hans Selye

It’s not stress that kills us, it is our reaction to it.”    — Hans Selye

After the Yuen Method Workshop

Posted in Quotes at 12:45 am by Administrator

Melissa and I have driven Tai to the Pittsburgh airport today after picking her up from there on Thursday.  It was a great workshop over the weekend with great friendships strengthened throughout her visit.  I’ve not had time to write much and am still processing all I’ve seen and learned.

Earlier last week my friend Stephanie sent me a quote.  It felt very much in line with the experiences I’ve been having in life, so I’ll share it with you now. Read the rest of this entry »

The Trap of Heaven

Posted in Spirituality, Quotes at 3:40 pm by Administrator

From Vasistha’s Yoga IV.46:

“He who is not attracted by the pleasure of either this world or of heaven (whether or not there is body consciousness in him) is liberated, even if he does not specifically desire or strive for such liberation.”

By turning away from worldliness only to desire after heaven, nothing has changed accept the name of our salvation. By wanting heaven we indicate something is wrong at place we are in life, indicating a lack of peace.  Peace does not come from seeking heaven.  It does not come from seeking escape in materialism.  It comes when we accept that it is of our own choosing.  Read the rest of this entry »

Unhappy, In Pain, Sick, and Old

Posted in Happiness, Thoughts, Healing at 10:43 pm by Administrator

As I was driving around today, looking for a Christmas tree with a rootball, attempting to sell a guitar case on Ebay, and on my way to a Chinese buffet it dawned on me that pain, sickness, and growing old are the result of mismanaging experiences, emotions, thoughts and feelings.  By learning how to master these aspects of our objective existence we can navigate life gracefully.

Faith and Healing

Posted in Healing at 3:03 pm by Administrator

Two days ago, a friend asked me how distance healing worked.  I didn’t give a very thorough answer.  So to make up for that, here it is!

Healing of any kind works on Faith.  This is not belief.  Belief is hoping something is true.  Faith is knowing something is true.  Healing can occur through touch, words, drugs, surgery, herbs, or anything else.  If the Faith is there it will work.  If it is not, no matter what is done, it will not occur.  Read the rest of this entry »

The Great Beyond

Posted in Spirituality, Thoughts at 2:26 pm by Administrator

When I was in high school I wrote a poem called The Great Beyond.  I have no idea what that poem was about now nor even where it may be located.   It is the title that has come back to me today.  This may sound a little cliched to all the vedantins out there, but the great beyond is our origin.  It is beyond duality.

As I sat contemplating health and disease, life and death, happiness and sorrow, good and evil, and a few other pairs of opposites I began to see that people (myself included) typically like to avoid one of these while emphasizing the other.  The problem here is that the pairs of opposites are not separate.  One does not exist without the other… Read the rest of this entry »

Freedom by Way of Truth

Posted in Healing at 3:01 pm by Administrator

Jesus said something to the effect of, “You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.”  In my experience in the healing profession, this fits nicely with what I’ve found the source of real healing to be.  When I did hands on healing work, it didn’t seem to matter what the complaint was.  If I placed my hands on the area of the symptom and tuned into to the feelings I was receiving from the area, and asked, “What is the cause of the problem” insights and intuitions would flash into my awareness.  By acknowledging them the symptoms abated. Now with the Yuen Method the same holds true. By simply tuning into the other person and asking, “What is the root issue” problems clear quickly and effectively. Read the rest of this entry »
