Imbalances in the craniosacral system can manifest as sensory, motor, or personality impairment. Dysfunction can be caused by physical or emotional trauma, constant mental stress, disease, or surgery. Those suffering from low energy, anxiety, depression, TMJ, headaches, or other problems related to the central nervous system can benefit from CranioSacral Therapy. Many people receive craniosacral treatments as regular health maintenance. One usually experiences feelings of being less confined within their body after a session. People are able to breathe deeper and think more clearly when concluding a craniosacral session. This light touch therapy, using less than five grams of pressure, is an excellent adjunct to allopathic medical treatments. Massage Therapy Massage manipulates the skin and muscle of the body to enhance the health and healing process. Through the application of massage, health is maintained. As stress is relieved, toxins are removed from the tissues, and the body is encouraged to function optimally. Massage can also be used with benefit in ameliorating already manifested disease. The immune system can be strengthened, muscle tension can be relieved, and body chemistry can be normalized through massage. This ancient art of health care promotes a wide range of possibilities in maintaining the integrity of the whole person. Massage therapy elicits relaxation, provides metabolic balance in tissues, increases mobility and flexibility and reduces pain. The trained touch of the massage therapist releases endorphins, assists digestion, increases lymphatic flow, and increases superficial circulation. All of these are essential in the maintenance of a healthy body. Ayurveda Ayurveda is the 5000 year old natural health system of India. It translates loosely in to "Life knowledge," as it provides a comprehensive system to maintain optimal health and provide freedom from current disease. Ayurveda provides the knowledge necessary to promote longevity and mental, spiritual, and physical health. The Ayurvedic system of healing is mind-body-consciousness centered. The principles behind it do not just address the physical body, but take into the account the harmony between the body, mind, and spirit as the key to health and long life. Central to disease prevention and health maintenance is an understanding to each person's constitution type. This depends on the mental and physical traits of an individual. Once determined, the Ayurvedic system provides guideline for living that include lifestyle regimens, diets, exercises, aromatherapy, color therapy, touch therapy and even stress relieving relaxation practices specifically geared to the individual. The main cause of disease from an Ayurvedic point of view is ignorance of self knowledge. Also, Ayurveda recognizes the existence of a life force or prana. This energy is similar to the concepts of chi as used in acupuncture. Physical disorders can be attributed to the flow of prana. As it moves through the body it may become stagnant, congested, excessive or deficient. When this occurs, the natural harmony of the body is upset and disease, pain, malfunction in the body occurs. Through the regular application of massage, prana healing, or any kind of bodywork the flows of prana are maintained and strengthened. Ayurvedic consultations and Ayurvedic massage are both available to determine and balance your individual constitution. |
